Chris Slade (1971 - 1978)

Drums

Born in Pontypridd, Wales, Chris came from the same area as Tom Jones and played drums in the singer's backing band, The Squires, for seven years. Upon leaving that band, Chris concentrated on session work and through Derek Wadsworth of "Hair" fame was asked to play a session where he met Manfred.

The album being recorded was Chapter III's third album and there he also met up with Colin with whom he had worked previously. He accepted Manfred's offer to help form the Earth Band at the same time as Colin.

Chris stayed with the Earth Band until 1978, then he formed Terra Nova with Colin Pattenden. Chris later also worked with Uriah Heep, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page and AC/DC and auditioned to re-join EarthBand in 1996 (John Trotter was subsequently chosen). Chris is currently touring with Asia.
