All the band members with my exception are experienced professional musicians who frequently play gigs.  We are all between the ages of 26 to 43, with Cliff being youngest and our drummer, Geir being the oldest (I believe).  Lasse, our lead vocalist, participated as lead vocalist with some guys from Queen and Mike & the Mechanics during a gig here in Tromsų, just recently.  He has a voice scarily close to Chris Thomson`s.  Our Lead Guitarist, Tore Morten, or TM, as we call him, is a professor in guitar at Tromsų Music Conservatorium.  In addition, our keyboardist, Cliff, has graduated from Tromsų Music Conservatorium.  Oh, did I mention that he is blind?  At first, I was a bit sceptical about his participation on this project, but when I heard him play MM solo`s, I became convinced.  He was just awesome!

II, on the other hand, am not such an experienced musician.  I used to play in a band during the 80`s and beginning of the 90`s, but then pursued an academic education in economics in USA.  Finally, I ended up here in Tromsų (which is far north) at the University of Tromsų.  Currently, I am finalizing my Master thesis in Economics.

But, it was, of course, the music of MMEB that brought us together I have always been fascinated by MMEB`s songs and particularly their arrangements.  One day a friend of mine called me and asked if I wanted to join them in a jam session.  I joined them, and suddenly my passion for playing music on stage woke up again.  But I knew I wished to play MMEB and asked first TM, whom I knew from before.  He thought the project was a good idea and joined.  Then I met Lasse one day and asked if he knew of any lead vocalist who could join the project.  "What kind of music are you playing, then", he replied. "Manfred Mann`s Earth Band", I said.  Then he replied again: "Those guy`s have always been my heros".  So he joined us.

With two of the best musicians in Tromsų onboard, it was not hard to convince the others to join this project.

Our lead singer, Lasse Ingebriktsen, took part in a concert with Chris Thompson, Paul Young and Terry Jacks, among others on the 17th of August.  Anyway, we have not decided on a name yet, but we have a strong candidate: 'Man to Mann'.

As and when I receive more details from Nanstein regarding the bands plans I will post them up on the site. - Nigel
