Postby Maddrax » Sat Jul 19, 2008 1:04 pm

Hi,

anyone knows more about those King Biscuit Flower Hour recording :

Manfred Mann's Earthband - KBFH Paris 1980

01 - Lies (Through the 80's)
02 - On The Run
03 - Blinded By The Light
04 - You Angel You
05 - Mighty Quinn

As far as I know, there were no concert in 1980 (?)

Which is the correct date of this ?

The played 5. February 1981 at 'Pavillion Baltard' in Paris

Is it from this concert?

Anyone has a clue, please ?

Thanks
Peter

Yes it's the same one probably.

The concert started with "Stranded" followed by the songs as you list them.
It's a fine line between pleasure and pain.

Hi Colin,

thanks for this info

By the way...I know this site with the general set-lists for the years
http://www.platform-end.co.uk/html/setlists.html

But, is there a site also someweherr with listed the set-lists for the single concerts ??

Would be interesting to know, how they have differenced from concert to concert (I guess, not a lot of differences/changes during tours, though...)

Greetings
Peter

and the shows WERE awesome ... as far as I still have rememberences

In 1983, I was at this show:
14 March Heidelberg-Eppelheim, Germany 'Rhein-Neckar Halle'

I have seen MANY, MANY, MANY concerts in Eppelheim, but seeing MMEB in Eppelheim always was a special thing for me in this relatively small Hall.

For the 1983 show, I still can remember the Video for Martha's Madman.
I will never forget this for the rest of my Live !!
I think, the Video was shown in 1981, already, no??

Also, I can remember, playing the Africa Suite, including Redemption Song with Chris (I remember?) on acoustics

Of course, the Hits
Mighty Quinn
Davy's
etc..

with singalong by the Audience....It was a GREAT time.
1983 was the second tour, I've seen them (first tour was 1981, in Eppelheim, as well)

In 1986, I have seen this show

23 April Ludwigshafen, Germany 'Friedrich-Ebert-Halle'

No Eppelheim on this tour, but the BIG Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Ludwigshafen.
As far as I remember, the Hall was packed.

For this concert, I always will remember the return of Mick to the Band.
As I first ever heard 'Father Of Day' played LIVE, it drives tears to my eyes...really.

I also can remember Gimme Some Loving and Mony Mony, which was a great treat
Can't remember anymore, if they've played 'Visionary Mountains' on this concert, though...

I deeply wish, I ever could obtain recordings from this concerts in Eppelheim and Ludwigshafen...someday....

Hallo Peter,

The first 2 minutes of the first song of the KBFH show you are talking about are indeed "Stranded"! "Lies" only starts at about 1:58.

This strongly supports Colin's suggestion that this is the 1981 Paris show.

Btw, Frankfurt 1983 was my first MMEB concert ever. I'd love to hear some recording of that show sometime...

Also: Is the Martha's Madman video out there somewhere?

Cheers, Dirk

Hallo Dirk,

Yep, Frankfurt was the day before the Eppelheim-show.
By the way, I remember that VITESSE opened in Eppelheim as well.
The do some kind of harder Rock, as far as I recall.
I remember pretty well, that the Vitesse show was filmed from the stage.
I was standing in the second row for both shows, and I'm 100% sure, that I has been filmed as well, as they do a swing to the Audience with one Camera.
So, I must be on a Video or something like that about the VITESSE show in Eppelheim...somewhere

Anyone knows about such a Video??
MMEB was not filmed, as far as I recall, though...

Oh boy..the more I think bout those old concert days, the more I recall...

The Madman Video:
I'm not sure, but I think I have read somewhere, that it is to see on an officiallly released DVD (?)
I'm not into DVD's, so I can't confirm this.
Maybe, it's on the Budapest DVD...(?)
I'm sure, someone from here can tell for sure.

Gruss Peter

Notice that vid is only one version they have for it, there are some more animations, this is the one in which that beard-man is in...
I can remember a vid where the axe is coming out of the depths...
