Does Alec checks on what gig organisers write on MMEB?

just went to www.fiestacity.be where MMEB play on Aug. 30th. The description of the group is a real shame. They just evoque Manfred Mann. Not a word about today's band... I would have thought that Alec or someone would have a say about that kind of things!

Hi Michel

I usually send out the latest biography and any pictures when promoters or Alec ask me to do so. However, I am not directly involved with the band's touring activities and have no idea what appears on which websites. I will contact this particular site to let them know their information is wrong, but if you spot any other errors please feel free to let me (or Alec) know. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

it's even worse than you think : the 2 band-members they talk about are Bruce and Vickers...talk about not knowing about MMEB!

ok, just for the fun (??) a rough translation of what can be read on fiesatcity site....

<<Manfred Mann's worldwide notoriety dates from the 2nd half of the 60's. People will remember them doing sort of a split between the very pop and commercialy orientated side of their hits (some singles went very high in the charts) and the more rock and rythm'& blues side of their albums.
Amongst the various line-ups of the band, some musicians were on teir way to celebrity (Jack Bruce or Mike Vickers for example) They already were inclined to cover other musicians' numbers to create real commercial hits. Some examples: Just like a woman and Mighty Quinn by Bob Dylan or Haha said the clown by Tony Hazzard. Beside their pop hits, they ventured into psychedilic, pre-progressive and jazz trips and allowed themselves the use of new instruments (mellotron !) and sometimes opera choirs (!)>>

Still, it reflects a certain lack of follow up by....whoever is in charge of "selling" the band. True Helen will try to correct it, but -as she rightly says so- it's not her job. Some people are paid for that, which should not get a cent (or dime, or penny...)

i think they are right about the Mellotron...manfred was much earlier than most keyboardists on it and it can be heard on various tracks, but unfortunatly not credited so much for it.
